The Champions Course
Hole 1
Par 4 • Handicap 9
Place your drive down the left side to a generous fairway. The uphill approach is to a green where being below the hole is wise unless the hole is cut front center. Then a chip shot might not be bad.
Hole 2
Par 3 • Handicap 17
Play is to a strategically bunkered green, which is bowl-shaped on the right side and collects shots from the middle to the right side of the green. Watch missing the green right down the hill.
Hole 3
Par 4 • Handicap 13
Large bunkers highlight this fantastic dogleg left. Play down the right side of the fairway and then approach this small, three-tiered green carefully. Long will never hurt you here.
Hole 4
Par 5 • Handicap 5
The creek that splits the entire length of this par 5 will be a prominent feature as you near the green. Don't be fooled by what appears to be a couple of greenside bunkers. They are set well back form the smallest green on the Champions layout.
Hole 5
Par 4 • Handicap 11
Play down the center of the fairway framed by two large bunkers. The second shot is to a large green which suggests favoring the left side.
Hole 6
Par 4 • Handicap 3
This very strong par 4 requires a good drive and approach to a green that is well protected by two bunkers in front. Front hole location can be tricky.
Hole 7
Par 4 • Handicap 1
A single bunker appears to be in the right corner of this fairway when in fact it is actually in the center. Though the approach is uphill, it is generally downward with plenty of safe room on the right side.
Hole 8
Par 3 • Handicap 15
This grand par 3 is protected by several large bunkers and always plays a bit longer than its yardage. The most difficult hole location will be back left.
Hole 9
Par 5 • Handicap 7
The bunkers that so perfectly fit the landscape of this hole will ultimately guide you to stay left and below the green or right and slightly above the green. The better view is from up top.
Hole 10
Par 4 • Handicap 12
A tee ball down the left side allows for the best approach to this well bunkered green which falls away to the right. A little downhill and usually downwind, this hole could play a bit shorter than you might think.
Hole 11
Par 5 • Handicap 6
This long par 5, though appearing straight away, moves a little right and then left because of strategic fairway bunkering and the terracing of the fairway bunkering and the terracing of the fairway. Approach shots will always prove safer of long as opposed to short.
Hole 12
Par 4 • Handicap 10
This dogleg right presents a wonderful view from the left side of the fairway to this small undulating green.
Hole 13
Par 4 • Handicap 16
A true risk-reward par 4 will almost certainly be best played with a tee ball just short and right of the fairway bunker. This will help avoid direct flight over the swarm of intimidating greenside bunkers short and left of the green
Hole 14
Par 4 • Handicap 2
This strong and dramatic par 4 is well protected from tee by a creek bed on the right. Left is a good rule of thumb for the shots required to play this hole.
Hole 15
Par 3 • Handicap 14
The green of this par 3 is set upon a plateau and favors a shot played to the right side. Always take a moment to enjoy the bird sanctuary to your left.
Hole 16
Par 5 • Handicap 8
This fairway pitches left to the right and could correct some pulled shots. The two tiered green is made more dramatic by the two fairway option on your approach. Watch out for the hidden bunker beyond the green back right. It is the deepest bunker on the golf course.
Hole 17
Par 3 • Handicap 18
This par 3, beautifully framed by the surrounding hillsides, is best played from above the hole on the right of this green.
Hole 18
Par 4 • Handicap 4
Drive to the left to avoid a dramatic series of fairway bunkers. Take your attention away from the water and use the length of the green to your advantage by being on the front right after your approach.
